Ceramique Internationale supplies Headingley Stadium redevelopment

Tiles specialist, Ceramique Internationale, has completed work on the prestigious Emerald Headingley Stadium redevelopment, adding the finishing touches to the new North Stand.

Working closely with project managers Styles&Wood and a number of interior designers, Ceramique Internationale was selected to supply more than 780 square metres of wall and floor tiles to the public and hospitality areas of the illustrious £45 million project, which gives the sporting venue ‘world class’ status after more than two decades of planning.

Ceramique Internationale Specification Sales Manager, Danny Malone, worked with Wakefield-based interior design experts Nanu Soda on areas including the Taverners Bar and cutting-edge Directors Suite, specifying wow-factor tiles from some of Europe’s leading contemporary manufacturers.

Working towards Nanu Soda’s design brief, Danny sourced Technicolour tiles – a unique range of coloured timber-effect panels – from Italian factory 41Zero42 to create a striking herringbone floor design in contrasting blue and beige shades.

David Longbottom, also of Ceramique Internationale, partnered with Space Invader Design to specify and supply tiles for the stadium’s entrance and communal areas, as well as the WCs. Eco-concrete in the shade of Grigio by Italian manufacturer Casalgrande Padana were selected due to its ease of maintenance and high anti-slip performance. The range is produced using 40% recycled materials, so the environmental impact was also minimised.

An interlocking composition from Cemento was used on the bathroom walls as part of the extensive redevelopment – which has created eight hospitality suites and 12 new meeting rooms in an effort to transform the already world-famous rugby and cricket ground into one of the best in the world.

Cameron Fraser, Director of Ceramique Internationale, said: “We are very proud to have played a part in this incredible renovation of one of the region’s major sports venues, which we are certain will see the stadium grow even further in stature in the coming years.

“Our strong working relationships with some of the finest tile manufacturers in Europe allows us to meet the demands of exciting design briefs such as this one with products of the absolute highest standard. Having had the opportunity to work on a lot of fantastic commercial projects, we believe our expertise will benefit the client for years to come.”
