The new product blends design elements of contemporary and period styles with world-class architecture while complementing the historic surroundings.
The iconic Grade II* listed Hornsey Town Hall located in Crouch End North London, is being lovingly restored and is set to reopen its doors next year. The Town Hall is steeped in history, with a rich heritage stretching back almost 80 years, and will feature a unique aparthotel concept operated by Dorsett Hospitality International.
Opening in Spring 2023, Dao by Dorsett Hornsey Town Hall will offer a collection of creative and harmonious apartments. The sixty-eight apartments have been designed by award-winning Make Architects, and take inspiration from the original design of both the listed Town Hall and Hornsey Library buildings.
Dao by Dorsett Hornsey Town Hall will span across four floors, and will include a mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments, many of which, such as the old Borough Treasurer’s room, include original ironmongery and timber panelling that stretches from floor to ceiling. These unique features have been cleaned, restored and paired with modern pendant lighting and terrazzo-inspired worktops in the multi-functional kitchenettes, giving each room a mix of period and contemporary fittings. Creating a true home away from home experience, Dao by Dorsett offers guests increased flexibility for their stay, ideal for those seeking all the benefits of a hotel but with the independence of having their own apartment. And it’s pet-friendly too!
Located at the heart of Crouch End, and adjacent to shops and restaurants on the bustling high street - the area has a village feel while maintaining good transport links to central London. Dao means ‘the way’, and Dao by Dorsett will focus on partnering with the community and encouraging guests to explore ‘the way’ they prefer to travel with sustainability in mind from the onset.
As well as the hotel, the vibrant new development will bring together modern apartment living, impressive co-working spaces, restaurants and cafes, a panoramic rooftop bar and a new Arts Centre - all while honouring the building's distinguished legacy.
The Arts Centre will host a diverse programme of high quality performances and events, from theatre and film to music, dance, comedy, and shows, run by cutting-edge arts and media specialists, Time + Space Co. In the warmer months, activity will spill out onto Town Hall Square for summer fairs, exhibitions, local farmers’ markets, and festivals, bringing the community together to enjoy live music and various food offerings.
The Arts Centre and Dao by Dorsett are being designed to ensure that they pave the way for a cultural renaissance for Crouch End, and for the borough and beyond. Hornsey Town Hall will be a place to serve the needs of the local community and businesses, and a visitor destination hosting world-class entertainment. The environment will promote productivity and creativity, all underpinned with a top-class hospitality experience for people to work, socialise, relax and enjoy for generations to come.
