Former mill transformed into rural broadband specialists’ new headquarters

Chameleon Business Interiors has completed work at Quickline Communications’ new East Yorkshire HQ, blending the old with the new and creating an inspiring space for the rapidly expanding rural broadband specialists.

Chameleon delivered design and fit-out services for the new workspace – located at Albion Mills in Willerby, East Yorkshire – focusing on highlighting the former mill’s original features.

Kevin McIntosh, head of design at Chameleon, said: “We harmonised our designs with the original features in the building, drawing attention to the exposed brickwork and oak beam roof trusses. Everything we’ve done has complemented the history of the building, creating an inspiring space for Quickline’s staff and customers.”

The new space now boasts a mix of cellular and open plan workspaces, an impressive mezzanine breakout space and a welcoming meet and greet area – as well as meeting rooms, flexible and adaptable hot desk areas and a kitchen.

Kevin continued: “Quickline has a strong brand, so we ensured that our work captured the company’s look and feel. The central feature statement piece - illuminated with LED lighting around the ceiling raft and Quickline’s logo adorned on one side - is truly the standout element of the design. It really brings the brand to life.

“The new headquarters has given Quickline’s staff and customers an office environment that really works for them and accurately reflects the business and its vision of the future. It’s been a fantastic project to work on and we’re delighted to see it complete.”

Quickline has more than doubled the size of its workforce this year to over 130 people and has plans to double that again over the coming year.

Chief executive of Quickline Sean Royce said: “This is an essential and positive move for us, and we’re delighted to finally be in. This move represents an investment in our people, making them proud to work for Quickline. We want to make this a great place to work and for our people to want to be together.

“Since the pandemic, we have developed a flexible working approach and we want people to continue to work from home, but also to have a dedicated workspace where they can collaborate, create solutions together, build strong relationships and have some fun with their colleagues.”
