Net zero pioneer recognised for Sustainability & Interior Design.

Lamington Group, the 50-year-old family real estate investor and developer, with a portfolio of market-leading accommodation and a focus on net zero operations, won two accolades at the 2022 Serviced Apartment Awards; the coveted Sustainability Award and Best Interior Design Award.

The group took top place in the sustainability category for demonstrating its dedication to placing sustainability at the heart of its business model. Evidence included its environmentally conscious measures and practices across its portfolio of accommodation solutions for short, medium and long-term stays. These include room2 Chiswick, the world’s first net zero hometel, which is fully accountable for its entire carbon footprint. The award also recognised the group’s social values, community engagement and charity collaborations, plus staff training and engagement to embrace and promote sustainable values and educating guests and customers of the importance of the sustainability agenda.

room2 Chiswick picked up the Best Interior Design Award and was praised by the judges for its creative, innovative style and its superior sustainable interior design. With features including handcrafted pieces specially made by local craftsmen, bespoke marbled wallpapers in the guest bathrooms and lifts and handmade tiles and pendant lights – the hometel is designed to break away from the muted look of standard eco hotels and demonstrating that sustainability can also create cosy, colourful and energising environments that guests will love.

Robert Godwin, Managing Director at Lamington Group, commented: “We are delighted to win the two awards, in areas we feel most passionate about. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. The design of our room2 Chiswick hometel was built around the principles of environmental responsibility, using technical innovation and design without compromising or sacrificing style, convenience, or comfort for our guests.”

Godwin was also shortlisted for the Industry Inspiration Award, which is nominated by industry members and recognises the individual’s impact on sector growth and development.

The Serviced Apartment Awards are the first and only dedicated awards created for and by the international serviced apartment, aparthotel, extended stay and short-term rental industry. Now in its seventh year, the awards recognise achievement at individual, property and company level, and are judged by a panel of independent experts, including travel buyers, architects, journalists, investors and consultants.
