The new eatery is located in Dublin’s popular and vibrant Temple Bar district and is a result of a collaboration between Leon and their new Irish franchise partner.

Architecture and Design consultancy, rpa:group were responsible for providing the initial layout drawings for the scheme and progressing these to deliver a full set of construction drawings. Additionally, rpa:group produced various 3D visuals and assisted in the coordination of a range of disciplines within the project, to help ensure accuracy of brand and design.

Although certain design elements, such as the image of the “Hand holding the Orange”, are intrinsically incorporated into all Leon restaurants, the Leon concept is always evolving, with every restaurant having its own unique look and feel, often reflective of its specific location. In Dublin the latest Leon concept graphics and finishes have been utilised, such as brick slips on walls and New York loft-style glazing to emphasise the industrial feel of the space. 

Because of its corner location, two entrances were proposed, with one on each elevation. As it was important that the restaurant reflected the local Temple Bar area, the existing exterior features were retained. Only the glazing was replaced and in order to allow more natural light into the restaurant, the structural opening of the fascia was enlarged. Internally, an additional seating area was created in the basement, which had not been utilised by the previous occupant. After undergoing a detailed design process, the resultant basement space has been transformed into a comfortable seating area, with a capacity for over forty customers and also includes a team area and kitchen.

Work commenced in December 2018 with onsite work starting in March 2019 and the new restaurant was successfully completed to welcome its first customers in May 2019. Collaboratively, Leon and their franchise partner are intending to continue a roll-out scheme of new restaurants, offering healthy fast food across the Republic of Ireland in the near future.
