A reimagined workspace that focuses on employee wellbeing and hybrid working.

The UK HQ of the world leader in frozen potato specialties and appetisers – McCain Foods – has been transformed to revolutionise hybrid working for its office staff, boost employee wellness and build on the company’s sustainability goals.

The project, carried out by Chameleon Business Interiors, was the first refurbishment at the site for 20 years and involved the creation of a three-storey modular extension, landscaped roof terrace and reimagined workspace that focuses on employee wellbeing and hybrid working.

A key feature of the company’s new look is the creation of a versatile space that can be broken down from open plan collaboration space into divided work areas, complete with hub space.

Shaun Watts, chairman of Chameleon, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed working on the new look for McCain’s Employee and Customer Experience Centre in Scarborough and we are delighted to hear the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received so far.

“While it was a huge project to be involved in, it was also important for our team to consider the small details, to ensure McCain staff have everything they need to drive their business forward. The 32,000 sqft site is now complete with a coffee shop, display and test kitchen, tasting rooms, auditorium spaces and a games area.

“McCain’s brand-new roof terrace, complete with external meeting hubs, promises to give employees a huge deal of flexibility when it comes to how and where they work, as does the new coffee shop which welcomes people as they enter through the main entrance.

“Hybrid workspaces are pivotal to modern businesses in the wake of the pandemic and I’m sure McCain employees will enjoy working in their new, versatile space.”
