One such spectacular example of our first class interior fit-out was in one of Chelsea’s most elegantly understated locations, Tite Street, where the Cumberland team was responsible for the restoration and extension of a Grade ll listed building.

In the late 19th Century, Tite Street was a favoured and fashionable location for people of an artistic nature and this historic building containing artist studios was formerly occupied by renowned painters including John Singer Sargent and Oscar Wilde. Famous portraits of Diana Princess of Wales and Margaret Thatcher have also been painted here.

The original brief from the client was to merge two parts within the building to create a large contemporary home by extensively increasing the internal space by 56% to over 5,000 sq. ft.

The designers, Studio Mackereth’s, vision to produce a modern home with a subterranean link beneath the re-landscaped garden was incredible and their architectural approach to this project was genuinely innovative. 

Through a seamless combination of our skilled workforce, in-house production facilities and dedicated Project Management team, we produced an immaculate interpretation of the original design which was delivered within the planned 52 week programme. 

To successfully run this prestigious project we used specialist contractors including groundworkers and a team of professional landscapers, which resulted in a beautifully unique 5,000 sq. ft. apartment that includes a new contemporary subterranean link beneath the re-landscaped garden. 

Meticulous attention to detail was paramount to the success of this seamlessly delivered project from concept to completion. 

A range of high-quality products and joinery items including doors, wardrobes, flooring and integrated furnishings were manufactured in our own purpose-built manufacturing facilities and installed by our expert fit-out team. 

The studio was refurbished to form an expansive living and entertaining space whilst retaining all of its original features. New oak flooring and prominent yellow fabric wall-covering has reverted the studio back to its impressive former self.

The property’s spiral steel staircase structure was wrapped in specialist leather, encompassing the handrails, risers and stair treads. This outstanding modern staircase now provides a feature point and creates a visual link all the way throughout the building.

The exceptional knowledge and attention to detail shown by the team has made this project one of which to be truly proud.
